What is VTOS?

VTOS stands for Vocational Training Opportunities Scheme.  This scheme was devised with adults in mind and is run by the City of Galway VEC.  Eligible participants are offered the chance to return to full-time education and training while retaining their social welfare benefits.


Who is it for?

It is for anybody over 21 years who has been unemployed for 6 months or more.


What is our objective?

It is to enable and encourage participants to reach their potential through their involvement in one of the programmes offered.



VTOS enhances your learning opportunities in the following ways:

  • All our Courses are certified by FETAC, or ECDL
  • Enterprise – explore the possibility of Starting your own Business
  • Improve your Job Seeking Skills - work opportunities
  • Improve your Quality of Life


Anything Else?

We strive to maintain an atmosphere in VTOS where adults can develop their confidence as well as their sense of belonging and achievement.   We aim to assist participants in acquiring new skills as well as the necessary skills in personal development.
