Special Projects for Youth (SPY)
Special Projects for Youth (SPY) is a fund set up under the Department of Education and Science from the proceeds of the National Lottery to provide out of school youth work programmes and services for young people in particular need.
Projects funded under this scheme aim to equip young people with the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for their appropriate and full participation in their local communities and in planning their futures.
Local voluntary youth and community organisations are contracted to implement programmes and Galway City currently hosts 17 projects based in a number of communities.
