Youth Services

City of Galway VEC provides funding and support to local based community and voluntary youth organisations to facilitate the development of out of school youth work programmes and services for young people, with priority going to those aged between 10 and 21 from disadvantaged areas.

Funding for youth programmes and services comes primarily from the Department of Education and Science through Special Projects for Youth, Youth Information Fund and the Local Youth Club Grant Scheme; and the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs through the Young People’s Facilities and Services Fund.

The youth services support section of City of Galway VEC provides support in the following ways:

  • Involvement in provision for youth at a developmental, evaluative, organisational, and general support level.
  • Assistance to voluntary groups in the sourcing, planning and implementation of new projects geared towards youth involvement.
  • Liaison with education, state, community and youth organisations.
  • Monitoring/evaluation of V.E.C. funded youth projects in Galway City.
