Access to Buildings/Facilities
Accessibility audit of CGVEC’s buildings. Audit to include approach and parking, entrance and reception, circulation area and level change, toilets, staff and employment issues, way finding, means of escape. Complete Audits by 2010
Prepare an implementation plan to make buildings accessible by 2015. Recommendations should be given a priority rating with timeframes for completion. Realistic considerations should be made for financial and staffing resources. Implementation Plan completed within two months of audit

Access to Services
Ensure accessibility of mainstream services, where practicable and cost effective to do so. Ongoing
Appointment of access officer who will have responsibility for providing or arranging the co-ordination of the assistance and guidance necessary to facilitate persons with disabilities to access services and information. 27/01/2007
Promoting the appointment and availability of access officer and how they may be contacted, so the general public is aware of them and knows how to avail of their assistance. Ongoing

Access to Information
Continually review arrangements for providing information to all users, as far as practicable. Provide communication in a form that is accessible to those with visual and aural impairments. Ongoing
Continually review arrangements for providing information that is relevant to persons with intellectual disabilities to ensure that, as far as practicable, it is provided in a clear language that is easily understood by those persons. Ongoing

Complaints
Appoint an Inquiry Officer 27/08/2007
Develop complaints procedures for dealing with complaints in relation to the Disability Act 2005, sections 25, 26, 27, 28 and 29. 15/01/2008

Procurement
Review public procurement policy and procedures in relation to goods and services to ensure that accessibility requirements are specified are specified in tender documentation. 10/04/2008
Employment
Review progress in relation to the 3% (employment of people with disabilities) target. 30/07/2007 (Ongoing)
Develop a code of practice for the employment of people with disabilities to help reduce or eliminate barriers for people working or wishing to work in the CGVEC. 10/05/2008
Policies
Ensure the availability of disability awareness training for all relevant staff, including senior management, human resource staff, finance staff, educational support staff, access officers etc. Ongoing
Ensure annual plans actively promote measures in relation to the inclusion of people with disabilities.
Other
Review NDA codes of practice to ensure compliance with statutory obligations. Ongoing
Establish and chair a disability and accessibility committee for CGVEC. Ongoing
Introduce a customer service feedback mechanism to monitor if the needs of people with disabilities are being met by the CGVEC.
